I often imagine myself saying beautiful prayers with words pouring right out of my mouth. This scene would be perfected with me, bathed in soft white heavenly light, surrounded by angels. The reality is that after a long day of work, I often find myself too tired to say a prayer, let alone a meaningful conversation with God. Here are 3 tips to incorporate prayer into our busy life.
Pray in the Morning
I find that praying in the morning is one of the easiest to incorporate spirituality into our life. Really, there is no wrong time to pray. Praying in the morning just evokes the feeling of a new beginning. In the book, A life of prayer and love by Master Ryuko Okawa,
In the morning, there are no clouds in your heart, no greed in your heart, and no tiredness in your body. Your spirit and soul are in a pure and spotless state. So, the morning is indeed the best time to pray.”
After a restful night, with the body and spirit restored, allows us to start anew again. Begin the day with God injects the dose of confidence and positivity before the challenges and responsibilities pile on us.
Pray in Solitude
Prayer is the time to put aside all worries and concerns and face God in solitude. God and the divine beings often send us inspirations and guidance, only the calm and serene mind can receive this soft voice of heaven. Jesus in Matthews 6:6 “But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. ” Master Okawa in the book, A life of prayer and love describes clearly the attitude when praying to God.
Be calm in prayer
Do not talk too much in prayer
Do not forget to have a tranquil heart
Keep away from hustle and bustle
Do not stay with many people;
Do not chat during prayer.
Be calm in prayer.
Be quiet and talk only to God.”
Begin with Gratitude
Gratitude is my shortcut to resolving life issues. When in doubt especially in the midst of challenges, I always go back to gratitude. Giving thanks to God before prayer primes my mind for the abundance of the universe, it fills my mind instantly with the riches of the universe, the riches of the kingdom of God. Saying a word of thanks to God tunes our perspective to the beauty of life, even obstacles will become whetstones for polishing our souls. Begin the prayer with gratitude paves the way to the heavenly connection of love and guidance during our private conversation with God.
In our busy life of work, studies, family etc, finding time for prayer can be tough. Once incorporated into our life, day by day with prayers, a life filled with love and gratitude will unfold before us.
