I have a love hate relationship with spring cleaning. One of the must dos in preparation for Chinese New Year is the annual spring deep cleaning, to welcome the Spring Festival with a fresh start. As I grow older, I actually look forward to spring cleaning. There is a symbolic meaning behind decluttering and wiping down dust – a soul training to let go of attachments and clean and polish the soul. To a large extent, I believe that the state of the mind and spirit is reflected in the external environment. Spring cleaning helps to restore that feeling of lightness and relaxation in spirit.
This year, I decided to enlist the help of my three little helpers (age 7, 9, 11) and make this a family event! Kids are really such joy to be around! I was really surprised by their enthusiasm in performing the tasks entrusted to them. This is such a beautiful time with great joy, as the kids work as a team to keep the bedroom spick and span. Involving the kids promotes a sense of competence and responsibility. It can get a little slower at times, but the joy and bonding more than made up for it!
To help to organise the tasks for the kids, I am very pleased to share the Bedroom spring cleaning checklist with you!
