Papaya is one of the most nutrient rich fruits on the planet. Growing up, we used to eat papaya all the time, without realizing the immense healthy benefits. In fact, looking back, it is funny how my mother used to comment that in the old days in Singapore “kampongs” or villages, papaya is considered as poor man’s fruit, as papayas were really abundant. We did not realise that this “humble” fruit is actually packed with phenomenal nutrients.
Papaya is extremely rich in beta carotene, vitamins C & A and minerals. It has a very sweet and lusctious taste which makes it a perfect snack.
They are extremely helpful for digestion health, with the ability to heal any type of digestive disorder such as constipation, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome. Papayas have strong anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties, protects the heart against heart disease. The seeds of the papaya are completely edible, very beneficial for the detoxication and strengthening of the liver. They also act as parasite/worm remover. The seeds contains high levels of proteolytic enzymes, maintaining a hostile environmental to worms and other parasites.
